Acclaimed rogue-like game Hades has made recent history by becoming the first video game to win a Hugo award. First granted in 1953, the Hugo award, is an annual literary award for the best science fiction or fantasy works of the previous year.

 

Dark Horse Comics acquired by video game giant Embracer Group – Polygon.com

Embracer Group, the Sweden-based parent company of Gearbox Software, Deep Silver, and Coffee Stain Studios, has acquired Dark Horse Comics. The acquisition will grant Embracer and its publishers library access to over 300 IPs, including popular titles like The Mask and Time Cop, licensed properties including Star Wars and Witcher, and manga titles like Berserk and Lone Wolf & Cub.

 

Japan’s First Esports High School to Open in Tokyo Next Spring – Kotaku.com

Starting in April, Japanese high school students in Shibuya will have the opportunity to attend a new specialty institution dubbed “Esports High School.” The school will feature instructors pulled from the ranks of esports players and industry members who will provide their expertise alongside a standard Japanese high school curriculum.
