China’s freezing of video game licenses is likely to continue into the new year. The National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) hasn’t released a list of approved titles since July 2021. The state-run newspaper reports that around 14,000 game studios, merchandisers, and publishers have gone under in the last six months, likely attributed to the freeze.
