Cyberpunk 2077 Launch cost $1 Billion – GameSpot

Technical issues with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 dealt a significant blow to CD Projekt Red’s stock value. Bloomberg states that the founder’s joint stake has dropped $1B in a few days. Sales projections have likewise taken a hit of 5 million copies, resulting in financial stress for the company. The primary cause of these problems stems from game versions on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

 

Warzone temporarily losing the attack helicopter – Polygon

Less than a day after the new season for Warzone launched, players find a game-breaking glitch with the attack helicopter. Raven software responded quickly to this bug by removing the gear from the game mode entirely until they could sort out the problem. At this point, we have no idea how long the aircraft will remain absent from the game.

 

Fortnite borrows from Facebook’s playbook– Polygon

Fortnite has a new game mode, and not a uniquely new idea for one either. The Spy Within mode bears a resemblance to the recently popular indie title, Among Us. The game’s success lies mostly in its ability to take existing ideas and popularize them, starting with the battle royale feature. This year, Fortnite found commercial success with the brand licenses that were looking for inclusion into their game. DC, Marvel, Star Wars all appeared in cosmetic items from deals struck with Epic games.

 

CoD: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 launches – GameSpot

Season 1 for CoD Cold War started this week, bringing new game modes, cosmetics, battle pass and more. On the Warzone side, the new map is now in use; it is smaller and emphasizes closer ranged engagements. Stitch, a new operator that comes with the battle pass, is the beginning of the expanding roster, with extra cosmetics.
