Sea of Thieves, highly successful – GameSpot

Sea of Thieves is just getting started and is already the most successful new IP on Xbox. To celebrate over 10 million players, Rare is giving away a free sail and emote to anyone who logs on between January 15-22. This window coincides with the launch of the next free content patch, Legend of the Seas.

Escape from Tarkov’s rocky successes – Polygon

In the last week of 2019, Escape From Tarkov (EFT)became the most-watched title on Twitch. EFT was introduced in May 2016, featuring complex ballistics and damage systems that focus on realism. A giant update dropped recently with a myriad of quality of life improvements and moved the game to the latest version of unity. The update combined with the popular live-action series brought EFT a lot of attention, even if the developers have been somewhat controversial in their statements of late.

Blizzard and ESL partner for game tournaments – Polygon

ESL has entered an agreement with Blizzard Entertainment to host tournaments for StarCraft 2 and Warcraft 3: Reforged. The ESL Pro Tour for StarCraft 2 will replace Blizzard’s Tournaments. The tour for Warcraft 3: Reforged will be the first major tournament series for the game. RTS games were the beginning of many competitive game scenes, and with the upcoming release of Reforged and these tournaments, the focus could certainly shift back to these genres.

Modern Warfare has a 24/7 Shipment playlist – Polygon

Shipment is famed as one of Call of Duty’s smallest maps, putting players so close together they could barely move without running into each other. Late last year Shipment appeared in rotation for the latest installment in the franchise. Furthermore, on Jan. 7th, Infinity Ward added a 5v5 Shipment 24/7 playlist, which replaced the 24/7 Shoot House playlist. Gun Game has also entered the playlists in this latest rotation, replacing Grind.
