After discovering an exploit used by third-party cheating clients in Dota 2, Valve patched the error but also cleverly left a honeypot to catch cheaters attempting to access the data formerly exposed by the exploit. The first wave of bans has exposed more than 40,000 cheaters so far with potentially more to come in an ongoing campaign against cheating.
