League of Legends coming to console and mobile – GameSpot
Riot games announced that League of Legends is coming to console and mobile platforms in 2020 under the title “League of Legends: Wild Rift.” This new version will feature 5V5 competitive play and come with redesigned control schemes for the new platforms. Wild Rift will be free to play just like on PC but will allow players to buy cosmetic items with real money. Representatives from Riot have said that they wanted to make Wild Rift feel like it was meant for the new platforms and not like a simple port from the PC version.
Overwatch Halloween event 2020 – Polygon
Overwatch’s annual Halloween event has come again, running from October 15th to November 4th this year. This year’s event brings more new cosmetics themed in a spooky Halloween fashion, with skins for Anna, Ashe, Orisa, Tracer, Widowmaker, Junkrat, Baptiste, and Lucio. Players can also unlock Sombra’s, Junkrat’s, and Baptiste’s skins by completing challenges.
Analogue Pocket coming 2020 – GameSpot
Analogue has made a name for themselves releasing high-quality old school consoles, and in 2020 they seek to expand their repertoire into the mobile gaming market. The new Analogue Pocket is a handheld system designed to play original Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy advanced games, as well as Neo Geo Pocket Color, Game Gear, and Atari Lynx. Pocket is equipped with hardware designed to maximize performance and the range of games playable.
Google Stadia launching November 19th – the Verge
Google Stadia is finally launching on November 19th, with at least 31 games playable at launch and more coming in the future. Stadia will initially be $130 as a “Founders Edition,” which includes full access to the service and a hardware starter kit and three months of premium service, after which will become $10/month. Google has stated that Stadia will not act primarily as a subscription service but rather a marketplace platform where players can buy games for retail price. The Pro package for Stadia will include the best streaming qualities and access to the eventual free catalog, while the free version coming in 2020 will have slightly lower streaming qualities.
